Seif El-Jack is a general and interventional cardiologist based at Auckland’s North Shore where he is the Lead Interventional Cardiologist at the CardioVascular Unit, Waitemata DHB. Starting in the UK, Seif finished his general cardiology training at Greenlane and Auckland City Hospitals where he also completed an Interventional Cardiology Fellowship. Seif undertook a further interventional cardiovascular fellowship at William Beaumont Hospital, Michigan, USA. He has subspecialty interest in ischaemic heart disease treatment and prevention, coronary and non-coronary interventions and device-based interventional treatment for hypertension. Seif has maintained a keen interest in academic cardiology and leads a busy Interventional Cardiology Research Programme at North Shore Hospital which actively participates in international and local research with several relevant publications in the field.
Seif also does pro-bono work as part of an Australia-NZ ‘visiting-team’ helping a fledgling interventional cardiology service in Fiji. With the support of the Friends of Fiji Heart Foundation, the NZ team he is part of has arguably done the most coronary stenting procedures in the last 5 years at Colonial War Memorial Hospital in Suva. Seif is preparing for his annual visit later in 2015.
When not working, Seif tries to spend as much time as possible with his family, including 2 school-age children. He enjoys gardening, travelling, reading and modern art. He supports his children in various sports. Rugby remains a challenge though!

Shawn is a consultant cardiologist and cardiac electrophysiologist at North Shore Hospital, Auckland. After graduating from the University of Liverpool, UK, Shawn undertook postgraduate medical training in Manchester and worked at the National Heart Centre in Singapore before relocating to New Zealand in 2014.
Shawn has worked at several New Zealand public hospitals including North Shore, Auckland City and Middlemore Hospitals. He completed his subspecialty cardiac electrophysiology fellowship at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton and the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney.
Shawn’s cardiology subspecialty interest is in Cardiac Electrophysiology, he received his Graduate Diploma of Cardiac Electrophysiology in 2020. With 13 peer-reviewed publications already, Shawn is furthering his education and research, currently pursuing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) on cardiac implantable electronic device use, implant trends and outcomes in New Zealand.
A fluent Mandarin speaker, Shawn is pleased to be able to communicate with Chinese patients in their native language to help them understand their clinical condition.
Outside work, Shawn enjoys travelling and spending time with his family.

James graduated from the University of Auckland in 1999 and trained as a cardiologist at Greenlane Cardiovascular Service which he became a fellow of the Royal Australian College of physician in 2012. James is currently a cardiologist at Waitemata District Health Board.
He has interest in general electrophysiology and general cardiology, particularly in heart failure management.
Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family. He loves travelling and indulging in good food.

Andy obtained his medical degree from Glasgow University and completed his general cardiology training in the UK before coming to New Zealand as a fellow training in electrophysiology (heart rhythm disturbances) at Auckland City Hospital Green Lane Cardiovascular Services. He then undertook an additional two-year fellowship at the renowned Flinders Medical Centre (Adelaide, Australia), sub-specializing in all aspects of electrophysiology including different types of pacemakers, and other implantable cardiac devices, as well as radiofrequency ablations (invasive electric treatment) of rhythm disturbances.
Andy leads the Electrophysiology Service at North Shore Hospital, Waitemata District Health Board.

Dr Ali Khan is a General and Interventional Cardiologist working at North Shore Hospital since 2008. Dr Khan did his Bachelor of Medicine degree (MBBS) and post-graduate training in Medicine and Cardiology in Bangladesh before moving to New Zealand. Auckland has been his home since then, where he worked in all three district health boards as resident medical officer prior to his specialisation in the field of Cardiology from the Greenlane Cardiovascular Centre at Auckland.
Dr Khan became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP) in January 2008. He moved to the United States of America to pursue his Fellowship in Interventional Cardiology, from the esteemed William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan before returning to North Shore Hospital as a Staff Cardiologist and Interventionalist in later half of 2010. He has been involved in private practice since then and recently moved his practice to the Cardiology Institute at Albany.
Dr Khan has interests in both Invasive and Non-invasive Cardiology, Catheter based Cardiac and Endovascular interventions, CT coronary angiography, General and Preventative Cardiology, Cardiomyopathies, Cardiac Rhythm disorders, and Metabolic disorders associated with cardiovascular disease.
Beyond his scope of work, he loves spending time with his family, meeting people, socializing with friends, travelling, sports, and has a passion for music and good cuisine.

Gary graduated with a medical degree from the University of Auckland in 2007. He trained as a cardiologist through the Green Lane Cardiovascular Service and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physician in 2015. He went on to complete the Advanced Imaging Fellowship at Flinders Medical Centre in Adelaide, Australia before returning to New Zealand in 2019. He is currently a consultant cardiologist at both North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals in Auckland.
Gary is a general and cardiac imaging specialist, sub-specialising in echocardiography; transthoracic, transoesophageal and stress echocardiography. His expertise covers most aspects of cardiology with interest in complex valve disease and coronary artery disease. He is also part of the heart failure team at North Shore Hospital, working closely with cardiac nurse specialists in managing patients with severe cardiomyopathy (heart failure).
Outside of work, he is a passionate Formula One fan, enjoys keeping up with all things tech and loves his family and travels.

Andrew To graduated from Auckland Medical School, and trained as a cardiologist at Green Lane Cardiovascular Service and acquired his subspecialty expertise at the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA, where he worked for two years as the advanced clinical and research fellow in multimodality cardiovascular imaging. His subspecialty expertise includes cardiovascular computed tomography (CT), CT coronary angiography, cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and echocardiography. He currently works as a consultant cardiologist at North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals, where he is also Director of Echocardiography, Director of cardiovascular CT, and associate Clinical Director of Cardiology. He is actively involved in cardiovascular imaging research, especially on CT coronary angiography and other imaging modalities.
He is passionate about health promotion in the Chinese community, and founded the Chinese Health Awareness Initiative of New Zealand. He was the president of the Auckland Chinese Medical Association from 2017-2018.
Andrew served in the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand (CSANZ) NZ branch executive committee and is the imaging working group chair from 2018-2023. He was the co-convenor of the CSANZ NZ Annual Scientific Meeting in 2023, held in Auckland, New Zealand. He also served in the Royal Australasian College of Physician (RACP) NZ Adult Medical Division committee from 2018 to 2023; and is currently one of the CSANZ representatives in the conjoint committee for the recognition of training in CTCA. He is part of the teaching staff of the Society of Cardiac Computed Tomography (SCCT) Heart Series for CSANZ Fellows in Training in Australia and New Zealand, held in 2022 and 2024.
Andrew is an honorary senior lecturer in the University of Auckland and is devoted to medical education.
On a personal note, Andrew is an avid classical music fan. He is also a devoted Christian and very active within his community as a church elder.

Denise graduated from Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in 2014. She completed her training and fellowship as a non-invasive imaging cardiologist at Erasmus University Medical Centre in Rotterdam in 2021; as well as an executive Master of Science degree in Clinical Research and Epidemiology in 2011 (Netherlands Institute of Health Sciences, Rotterdam in collaboration with Harvard School of Public Health, Boston, USA).
In 2013, Denise obtained her PhD degree cum laude for her thesis entitled “Congenital Aortic Stenosis and Aneurysms” at the Erasmus University Medical Centre in collaboration with the Peter Munk Cardiac Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After obtaining her PhD, she continued with a Post-Doc Fellow position in aortic disease at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney, NSW, Australia.
Denise is currently working as a consultant cardiologist at both North Shore and Waitakere Hospitals in Auckland. Denise is a general and cardiac imaging specialist with expertise in transthoracic and transoesophageal echocardiography, cardiac CT and MRI.
Her expertise and specific areas of interest include genetic aortic disease, cardiac disease in pregnancy and cardio-oncology. She is the clinical lead in cardio-oncology in the Cardiology Institute.
Outside of work, Denise enjoys spending time with her young family; and is an avid traveller, who loves cycling, hiking and snowboarding.

Bernard obtained his medical degree at the University of Auckland and trained to become a cardiologist in the Auckland region. He is currently appointed as a general and interventional cardiologist at North Shore Hospital in Auckland.
In 2021-2022, Bernard undertook a coronary intervention fellowship at the Prince of Wales in Hong Kong after being awarded the prestigious John Ormiston Fellowship from the New Zealand Heart Foundation. During that time, he gained experience in Complex and High-Risk Interventional Procedures (CHIP) and Chronic Total Occlusion (CTO) under the tutelage of world-renowned CTO master Dr. Eugene Wu.
Bernard has subspecialty interest in ischaemic heart disease, in particular percutaneous management of coronary calcification where he is completing a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the University of Auckland. He also has an interest in coronary physiology, intravascular imaging, non-invasive imaging, cardiomyopathies, heart failure and preventative cardiology.
He is actively involved with clinical research in various areas of cardiology, and currently leads the Cardiology Research Unit at North Shore Hospital, Te Whatu Ora Waitemata.
Originally from Hong Kong, Bernard is also fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese.
Outside of work, Bernard enjoys travelling, cooking, sports and spending time with his family.
David is an Auckland trained Endocrinologist and General Physician. He is working as a Specialist in Endocrinology, Diabetes and General Medicine at Waitemata DHB. David is a Clinical Leader for General Medicine at Waitakere Hospital, and is board member of Osteoporosis New Zealand.
David welcomes referrals for patients needing specialist care for diabetes and endocrine disorders. He would also be happy to review complex or undifferentiated general medicine problems.

Anita has worked in the healthcare sector for over 7 years. She has been interested in cardiology since she first started studying her Bachelor of Nursing degree. Anita has particular interests in cardiology procedures and education and has previously worked at Cardiology institute as a receptionist.
Anita is now working in the Coronary Care Unit at Auckland City Hospital.
Anita is a big animal lover and in her own time she enjoys spending time with her pets, cooking, reading and travelling. She has recently come back after two months of travel in South America, where she accomplished hiking the Inca trail, rainbow mountain and living in the amazon jungle in Peru.
